Professor Chen Shaozong

Resume: Chen Shaozong, chief physician and doctoral supervisor. Free skin flap of arteria saphena, lateral femoral skin flap and fascial flap were clinically applied by him earlier in China. Laser therapy in chondritis of auricle burn and late-stage burn, repair of abdominal-wall defect with axial skin flap and antigen-extracted pig peritoneum, study on microsurgical anatomy of fascial flap of pig hind limb, human anterior thoracic and anterior medial femoral fascial flap and neural scapular skin flap have been carried out. The studies on sensory neurotization sponsored by NSFC and the repair of limb neurologic defect by extended nerve elongation, started in 1986, has been successfully applied in the clinic. In recent years, the research projects involve end-to-side neuroanastomosis, repair of nerve defects with acellular nerve allograft and therapy of vacuum-assisted closure with positive results.

Professor Zhou Yongxin

Resume: Zhou Yongxing, chief physician and doctoral supervisor. For more than 10 years, he has mainly engaged in etiopathogenesis, new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of virus hepatitis, and gained 3 NSFC and key scientific research funds of PLA and Shaanxi province.

With the research of inhibited HBV gene replication by antisensenucleic acids, he was awarded the second prize of Advances in Science and Technology of Shaanxi in 1998 and with the research of inhibited HBV gene replication by multi-site ribozyme, the second prize of Advances in Science and Technology of PLA in 2001. Besides these, he was awarded 6 third prizes of Advances in Science and Technology of PLA.

Professor Fan Qingyu

Resume: Fan Qingyu, chief physician and doctoral supervisor. From 1988-1991, he worked as the consultant surgeon in the Department of Bone Tumor of New York Arthropathy Hospital. In 1996, he was awarded the title of Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions by Ministry of Personnel of the People's Republic of China. Professor Zhao Lianyou

Resume: Zhao Lianyou, chief physician and doctoral supervisor. He has worked on the prevention, treatment and mechanism of hypertension, and is experienced in diagnosis and therapy of stubborn cardiovascular diseases, especially of hypertension and related diseases. General Information

Tangdu Hospital, located in the east suburb of Xi'an, covers 410 acres with a total floor space of 230,000 square meters, medical service area of 105,000 square metersand green area of 80,000 square meters. It has 41 medical departments and 16 teaching and research sections in the organizational structure. Among which, 15 are ratified to confer doctoral degree in medicine, 31 for master's degree and 1 for the mobile station for the post-doctors. The hospital has 4 national key disciplines, 3 national key cultivated disciplines, 3 disciplines with Changjiang Scholar, one innovative team appointed by Ministry of Education of P.R China, 2 medical institutes of PLA, 7 specialty centers of PLA, 1 key lab of PLA and 2 key medical disciplines and 7 departments of prominent specialty in Shaanxi. With 1,200 beds in total, the annual outpatient visits and admission numbers reached 400,000 and 40,000 respectively.

There are 138 professors and associate professors in Tangdu Hospital, of whom 58 are doctoral or master supervisor and 30 obtain government special allowance.

The hospital is furnished with a variety of sophisticated equipment, such as positron emission tomography (PET), 3.0T MRI , gamma knife, stereotaxic apparatus, 64 row CT, ECT, digital cardiovascular image apparatus, medical linear accelerator, series color ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, FCM, 1: 800,000 electron microscope, DNA synthesis analyzer, worthy of 400 million RMB yuan.

Various innovative clinical techniques or therapies have been applied in Tangdu hospital, such as limb-salvage therapy with microwave-induced hyperthermia in bone tumor, microwave-induced stereotactic localization in PD, micro invasive microelectrode-guided stereotactic pallidotomy and thalamotomy in management of drug abuse, tunnel esophagogastrostomy in esophageal carcinoma, therapy in severe laryngotracheal stenosis, therapy in cardiac arrhythmia, dyssomnias and severe hemorrhage fever, radio-frequency ablation in liver and lung cancers, assembly-energy scalpel in lung cancer, esophageal replacement with colon in upper esophageal cancer and esophageal stenosis, assisted reproductive technology, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, interventional therapy in cardio-cerebral-vascular disease and tumor.

Annualy, Tangdu hospital undertakes nearly half of total undergraduates clinical teaching task of the university. Besides this, the hospital undertakes the teaching tasks at more than 10 levels. In all, 1500 students for doctoral degree or master’s degree and 4 post-doctors have been cultivated.

With the improvement of scientific research, Tangdu hospital obtains more than 50 funds(including NSFC) annually, which worthy of 6-8 million RMB yuan. Some professors are taking on of high-level research projects such as state-supporting 973 project and 863 project. Annually, More than 70 SCI papers are published, and more than 40 professionals attend international academic conferences .
