The Department of Preventive dentistry was established in 1952.It is currently a set of medical, teaching, scientific research as one of the modernization of the army oral preventive medicine center. There are totally 8 staffs, among whom 3 are professor or associate professor, 3 are intermediate title,2 are Junior title employees.
The Department undertakes the multiple tracks of the teaching task. The students include graduate students, undergraduates and advanced students. The subjects include the public oral health, oral introduction to medicine, oral health service study, and oral history of medicine.
Our mission is to be committed to oral health through excellence and leadership in education, research, and community services.
Our department is the entire military dental office center, is the office of college students volunteer association of "oral health knowledge into the campus / community".
Branch begins clinical dental room, oral health education room, oral prevention laboratory, oral health guidance rooms, and mobile dental vehicle. For the prevention project for the students and residents, we conduct oral health care plan and service, pit and fissure sealant, fluoride foam, brushing guidance, oral health education, oral health assessment, and oral health projects such as telephone counseling. Mobile dental vehicle provide oral health services for the community, schools, companies, factories and mines. Clinical medical projects carried out by root canal therapy, the filling of dental caries, tooth large area defects, pulp preservation treatment, dental beauty, clean teeth and smooth surface of teeth, pit and fissure sealant, demineralization, Bad breath treatment projects.

With the Chinese Stomatological Association, Dr. Li is a vice- Chairman of the Preventive Dentistry Committee. He is also a vice- Chairman of the Oral Health Associations of the Chinese Preventive Association. He is on the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Conservative Dentistry, the Chinese Journal of Agedness Dentistry, the Journal of Practical Stomatology and the Journal of Dental Prevention and Treatment.
His major research interests include: oral health education, Community Dental Health, Oral Health Investigations, Oral Epidemiology, Dental Education, Infection Control of Dental Practices , Manpower Management of Dental Practices, Market Tactic of Dental Practices , Professional Safety of Dental Practices, Quality control of dental Practices, Dental History，Dental Health Products and Public Health Dentistry. Dr. Li has authored over 337 papers and over 28 works on his major research. In 1997, he received the National Committee for Oral Health's Outstanding Award.
