It is the national key discipline, the center of micro invasive neurosurgery of PLA and the institute of functional neurosurgery of PLA. There are 8 professors and associate professors, 5 attending doctors and 30 candidates for doctoral or master's degree. The department has 3 wards with 120 beds, and labs with floor space 1,200 square meters. It is equipped with several imported operation microscopes, mobile digital subtraction radiographies, cerebral ventricle endoscopes, ultrasound aspirators, operation bone drills, 3 apparatuses of microelectrode stereotactic surgery and epileptic localization system, gamma knife, etc. It is the chief unit of Endovascular Treatment Division of Neurosurgery Association of China, director unit of Antiepileptic Association of China, the training center of interventional therapy of cerebrovascular diseases of Ministry of Public Health of China and the innovation unit of Ministry of Education.
