Founded in 1949, it is one of the first disciplines ratified to confer the doctoral degree in PLA, the national key discipline, the key discipline sponsored by “Project 211”, discipline with appointed professors by Changjiang Award Program, the discipline of the mobile station for post-doctor of clinical medicine and one of the first key medical disciplines of Shaanxi.
There are 15 professors and associate professors, and 85% of faculty with technical title of attending doctor or above have obtained doctoral degree, 4 among whom studied abroad. Several postgraduates of the department are being trained in USA.
By now, the department has the building of medical service, teaching and scientific research with the largest floor space in China. There are 100 beds in the department consisted of artificial liver lab, hemodialysis center, electronic gastroscope and enteroscope lab, B ultrasound lab, lab of ascites reinfusion, standardized PCR lab, flow cytometry lab and serology detection lab. The department is equipped with breathing machine, CRRT, vital sign monitor, etc. The annual number of inpatients and outpatients in this department is 2,000 and 35,000 respectively.
