The AFMU has eight-year basic medicine, clinical medicine, Aerospace Medicine, Stomatology, five-year clinical medicine, Aerospace medicine, stomatology, preventive medicine, nutrition, medical psychology, general medicine, four-year public service management, biomedical engineering, Biotechnology, pharmacy, nursing and 16 undergraduate majors, There are more than 2,500 undergraduates in the university. Approved by the Ministry of Education and the CMC, the school began recruiting Students without military status in 2018.
The AFMU has 3 affiliated hospitals, 18 off-campus clinical teaching bases, cooperates with National University of Defense Technology, Xi 'an Jiaotong University and other famous universities, and has established close cooperation with Thomas Jefferson University and other foreign universities. The school has 4 national-level teaching teams, 1 national-level teacher and 16 outstanding teachers in the army. The school has won 60 national and military teaching achievements awards, including 1 special prize and 1 first prize of national teaching achievements. There are 7 national quality courses, 9 national quality video open courses and resource sharing courses. In 2010, the school passed the teaching evaluation of military academies with excellent results. The teaching center of stomatology hospital was selected into national experimental teaching demonstration center and national virtual simulation experimental teaching center.

And "broad caliber, thick foundation, heavy innovation, strong ability" concept of personnel training standard. Close to the requirements of national medical higher education and military posts, the school has carried out a series of fruitful explorations and reforms in personnel training mode, training scheme, curriculum system, teaching contents and teaching methods, and has constructed a comprehensive medical integrated curriculum teaching mode with "organ-system-disease" as the main line. The AFMU has trained more than 90,000 high-quality military medical personnel, and emerged many advanced national models, such as Zhang Hua, Li Jishuo, Chen Shaoyang, and so on. A large number of advanced models, such as Hua Yiwei and Zhuang Shihua, have great influence both inside and outside the army. According to an uncompleted statistic, among the graduating students, there are 1 former vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, 2 lieutenant-general, 34 Major-General and 155 professors above the third level.
